The water pump circulates coolant. When its bearing fails you hear a grinding or whine, and when its seal fails you get a coolant weep from the small hole underneath. Both mean replacement soon. We replace the pump, the gasket or O-ring, the belt that drives it, and refill with fresh coolant.
Signs you need water pump replacement
- Coolant leak near the front of the engine
- Grinding or whining that changes with RPM
- Pink or green crust around the pump
- Overheating with no obvious leak
What we do on site
- Confirm the pump is the source
- Drain coolant, remove the belt and pump
- Install a new pump with a fresh gasket, torque in sequence
- Install a new belt if worn, refill and bleed
- Run to temperature and check for leaks
