The alternator charges the battery and runs everything electrical while the engine is on. When it fails you get a battery light, dimming lights, a whining noise, and eventually a car that shuts off in traffic. We test output and ripple, replace the alternator and belt if needed, and confirm charging before we leave.

Can I drive with the battery light on?
Only far enough to get home or to a safe spot. Once the battery runs down the engine will stop, sometimes in traffic. Call us and we'll come to where the car is.
New or remanufactured alternator?
Quality reman units from reputable suppliers are fine and save money. On newer vehicles we usually recommend new. We'll give you both prices.
